It took a little work to mount the awning. The width of roof rack on the trailer was only 34 inches wide. Had some spare Unistrut in the garage which help support the ends of the awning, which made it very rigid.

By far the best purchase and install ever!!! Finally getting to enjoy cool shades during the summer time.
We have used it a lot already this summer. My wife didn't want to spend the money but I did my research and if I was getting an awning I was getting the best. We had it at the beach used it everyday quick set up and tear down. We have used it camping, or sporting events, fishing, parties and picnics. They only gave me 5 slots for pics or I would send more.
Love the product. Gives great coverage for those days at the track or the days camping. Only thing I’ve seen that is being aggravating is with my roof rack I have to keep the Awning so far off my rig the brackets are sagging and bending down from the weight. Just I am going to add some support under the brackets.
I recently purchased the OpenRoad4wd truck cap, 270 degree plus awning and cross bars for my off road build on a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. I was very excited to receive the product and begin my project. The awning arrived first followed by the side walls. I discovered that I’d need to purchase the cross bars so I could mount the awning to my truck cap so I purchased them separately. They arrived fairly quickly. In the meantime, tracking for the truck top was stuck with the notation “waiting on instructions” I attempted to contact customer service but discovered there’s no way to talk directly to a human being so it wasn’t until by chance I answered a call from an unknown number (I typically don’t) and was able to set a delivery date and time. All and all the product is extremely good quality but installation instructions and customer service is greatly in need of improvement. P.S I’m still waiting for the hardware for the cross bars so I can’t install the awning currently.
Took it out for our first camping trip and it was awesome. Held up in the rain and provided shade for us through blazing sun.
First trip out and it thunderstormed the whole first day. It held up great without any issues and kept me dry

In my honest opinion about the open road 270 plus awning is this. Very easy to use, easy open and easy to put away. Love the lights that are installed, I just plug in my battery bank. Its a well thought out design from the ease of use, to the color coded zippers for an add on walls. I have only great things to say about my awning. Thank you open road for making a great product at a great price.

Purchased a 270 deg. Awning Plus and I am plesantly surprised with how sturdy it is, no significant wind noise on the road and holds up to west texas winds very well. My family loves sitting under the shade while wating for their fishing poles to take a hit. This is the easiest shade ive ever put out and can get it set up in seconds!
Bought this on a whim. Really thought it would be made cheap. Nope. Not at all. This thing is amazing. Very happy with my purchase and will be ordering more from them!
awning performs great. Instructions were not great. Had to make modifications in order to mount to roof top cross bars. Some of the nuts bolts once tightened would not loosen for adjustments. No I did not strip them. Had to make several trips to the local hardware store to make it work. The awning itself seems solid and works as advertised. I think a factory step by step vid showing how to fold it back together especially for the plus portion. Takes some figuring out how to get the fabric to tuck it all back together.
After doing some research, I found OPENROAD4WD was going to be the overall best awning for my needs and I was correct! So happy with this product and look forward to OPENROAD4WD products and sharing my installation and reviews on my AROD_OFFROAD social media channels!
I absolutely love this 270 Plus Awning! Install was super easy- I've shared a video on my YouTube (AK ExploreMore). Great quality build, quick setup and breakdown- takes less than 2 minutes. This awning creates a big space for shade, and the best part is that it's freestanding! You can definitely use the support poles and wind ropes. The integrated led lights with changeable colors and dim mode is awesome. Highly recommend, and can't wait to use it at camp this summer!

So I had the 270 reg. And it was amazing. But the 270 plus encompasing the cab was where it was at. I now have two seperate heated rooms in a sense. With the diesel heater on low. Ice fishing and group camping is legit. The set up is slick and swift. Have some back country snowboard trips planned and this is gonna be a great base camp!

I'm very happy with the quality of the awing, all the options work as advertised. Installation is a 2-person job, but the mounting track and hardware are all there, it just takes time. I took it out for a 7 night camping road trip and setup the awning each night. I can open and close the awning on my own, but there was a little bit of a learning curve to the process. lighting was great and the 3 different color light and dimmability is needed. We used all of the bright lights for cooking and prep underneath the awing and then a single "yellow" light was perfect for evening fire pits. 1 night required poles and stakes because of the wind and it held up well. The stakes that come with the kit are pretty basic, so I upgraded those to longer stakes with bigger heads. The cord that comes with the stakes has a reflective thread in the line which was a nice bonus to keep fro tripping late-night when moving around with headlamps.
The online pictures just don't do justice for how big this is and it weighs in at 61 pounds. I found it best to install the brackets on my cross bars first to get the bolts in position and then remove just the brackets, so lifting the entire awning with brackets installed by myself, I can just sit it over the bolts and hand tighten a few nuts down to hold it. Expect to do a lot of adjusting to get this right for your vehicle. Love the quality of the awning material. My awning arms came with dents, so just know not all parts are as solid as other. Handle with care. The sidewalls are like parachutes in even the slightest of wind, so make sure to stake them into the ground. I tested it in a parking lot with nothing to weigh down the bottom of the sidewalls; big mistake. The add-on extension poles definitely need something to keep them from falling out of the support arm holes when the wind comes up under the awning if there is no guidewire. The material of the awning and sidewalls are amazing. Love the ease of assembly and use, once you have played with it a few times to get acquainted. 100% worth the purchase. Hope to take it on many a campouts.
Very nice setup. It's definitely a two-person job to install it. I have the Prinsu Pro rack and had to buy different hardware to make it work with that. I would think that hardware for popular racks would be included. So be prepared for that. Other than that, it looks and works great. I haven't had a chance to use it on one of our adventures yet. But it will be soon.
Love the product. Huge coverage area of shade. Each time I use it I am so impressed with the design and durability not to mention it takes, on a slow day, 30 seconds to fully deploy and maybe 60 seconds to close up and return to the cover. I am using two of the three brackets provided and the awning is sturdily mounted. Installation took under an hour. This has been great for kids sporting events, hunting, and days down at the river so far. Each time the thoughtful design and amount of shade impresses. Great work / Great product.

Absolutely a game changer. We had a vevor 270 Awning that got absolutely destroyed in a wind storm. The hinge is massive! The sidewalls are incredible. Held up to 35mph gust with no issues. Pissed that I wasted the money on the cheap Vevor. This awning is an example of you get what you pay for.
Used this awning over labor lady weekend and it's def met my expectations and work very well.
Openroad 270 degree plus was everything and more. Great quality build, material was more robust than other awning I previously experienced and the multi lighting options was the big draw for me. Installation can be a one person attempt, however two is best and ideal! I have not tried the awning in winter conditions. Looking to purchase side awning down the road or when it goes on sale.
