This cap is awesome! I’m loving it. I’ve had it on a few weeks now, and It’s well built, very clean looking and fits my Gladiator perfectly. Finally my stuff won’t get rained, snowed on, or dusty any more; which for sure will save me tons of money down the road. I’m really loving the shape of this thing and it’s super strong. I currently have the 270 awning, and the quick open RTT from Openroad on there and it holds everything perfectly. This cap in my opinion is very comparable for its price!
I recently switched from a bed rack to the OpenRoad bed cap and couldn’t be happier. I transport adoptable dogs and like to turn my transport runs into camping trips. With this cap, I can keep all my gear dry and clean in the bed, while the pups take the back seat. No leaks and no dust in the back. This bed cap has made my transports easier and safer as I no longer have to pile my bedding and clothes in the passenger seat.
Topper was easy to put together, went on easily, seems stout. The man issue is no instructions for installing the interior lights and the rear tail light. So not using those features and dealership will charge me $200 to hook them up
It just looks great and functions very well for me. Was able to get my 175lb tent installed on it and it's working with no structural issues. Been getting a lot of compliments on the new addition.
Let's just say that my wife never agrees with anything I buy; I buy a suit "it looks bad". shoes, "They look terrible!". When I bought this, she was very, very skeptical but once I received and mounted it, without me asking, she said, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME "That looks really nice, good job!" (Super true story!!) I still can't believe it lol!!! The product is amazing aesthetically; it makes the truck look like the badass truck from "Tango & Cash" but meaner! Quality is outstanding and now transporting our 4 dogs is piece of cake. Furthermore, leaving things secured in the back of the truck is such a peace of mind! I love it and I believe it's one of the best purchases I've done for the truck. Next; Adding a tent and a rack so I can mount a generator for camping / hunting! I give this a 10 out of 5!

Hi Jiri,
Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your feedback! We're glad to hear you're happy with the overall quality.
Could you tell us a little more about what you think could be improved with the rubber covers on the locks? We really value feedback from customers using our products firsthand. It helps us improve the product and make the experience better for future customers, too.
Thanks again for your support and for helping us improve!
Was okay to put together, had 3 friends help set it on the gladiator, went smooth
It was fairly easy to put together. However lots of key points either not covered in the instructions (orientation of roof rails, mounting brackets for my truck, f150) or the instructions use different terms for the same term (there was a whole section about glueing the front & rear panels…. But no glue in the parts list. You meant caulk / sealant). Also I would hold off the bolt tightening until the cap is on the truck and properly attached. It was a labor of love to get the brackets properly seated on the f 150 bed rails with the cap rigid. But all ivercomeable. The end result great and the quality awesome
Overall the cap has been exactly what I have been looking for. It feels very durable and fits perfectly. I did need 3 other people to help me place it on the bed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cap.
I have looked at many brands of top caps and decided to go with this one. Wasn’t too difficult to assemble and it looks amazing!!! Seems like very good quality, only time will tell.
Recently made the switch from a bed rack and I couldn’t be happier! Wish I installed this a long time ago, it’s going to allow me to do my custom drawer/kitchen build in the bed! Great looking, working and extremely well fitting truck cap. I couldn't be happier with the fit and finish. It's a heavy cap, but it's going to last forever. Well worth the money. Fast shipping was a bonus. Don't hesitate. If you're thinking of buying this cap, do it. You'll love it.
Has been working out great. Access from 3 sides is great for loading and unloading as a family. Couple scratches from shipping that I had to put some touchup paint on and a few bent corners that a small wrench could fix. Instructions could be a little better for which side is front and where to put the weather seals. The gladiator needs the front weather seals very specific to fit the length and reach the tail gate correctly. Supplied Tnuts to mount the cap to the mopar trail rail system are a little too tall and it clamps the nuts tight before it completely pulls the bracket snug to the rail.
Overall, the purchase and the truck cap are great. Assembly was pretty straight forward. There was one bent bracket, but it was easily straightened out. The bigger issue was missing hardware. I was missing one t-nut to attach to the bed rails, and several other bolts and washers. I had to make a run to the hardware store to get most of what I needed. I did contact support, and they were responsive. I have two recommendations for the company... 1. For the price paid for this, there should be no question that the necessary hardware is included. Double and triple check the parts list. 2. Offer an additional hardware mounting kit for attaching things to the outside and inside panels. I can't find any suitable hardware to mount a Rotopax that feels secure. I have traction boards mounted, but even those feel kinda flimsy. Dedicated hardware, even as an additional purchase would be great. I am glad I got it though. I'm very happy with it.
Though the design and overall appearance is what I wanted, it came with several bits damaged. Couple dents on the roof panel, few side panels came with damaged edges. Luckily I was able to straighten them out and get them to align with each other and obtain a proper seal.
I've been considering different types of caps for a while now. There are some nice, versatile soft-top options out there, but I ultimately decided I wanted something more secure. Because I'm using this cap for an overland setup, I didn't want anything super heavy. After looking at several aluminum caps, I settled on the OPENROAD. The cap is solid, weather-tight, and sharp. Took a couple of hours to assemble, but it's pretty straight forward. You'll need at least 3 people to lift in place. Interior mounting points secure the cap cleanly, without any protruding bolts / mounting plates, etc. The plates are welded into the cap, so you bolt them directly to the existing bed rails on the sides and in the front. It's a very neat set up and doesn't require a lot to remove the cap. The crossbars are a must if you're planning on a RTT. We opted for the soft tent and mounted it pretty easily. Overall, I'm happy with the design and build quality of this cap.
So far the cap is amazing, I haven’t had any leaks once I got everything dialed in and sealed up. I only have one draw back the light bar button is not the greatest but I have it just hard wired into my truck so I push a button in the cab light comes on but other then that everything is great
The topper went to togther well even though there we 4 places of bent metal. I was able to fix those without hurting anything. The clamps on the side don't seem to work well and are a place to catch on clothing when inside. I replaced those clamps with ones I have used on previous truck. I think you should instruct the sealer to be put in between the metals when it is assembled as well as using afterwards. I have one lock that is not functioning and needs work. I would also change the plastic lock tabs in the other direction. Overall the topper is a vast improvement over the fiberglass on the last truck and it looks great. You have a very good product with just a few updates to make it even better.
Very well package, high-quality material, finishes, outstanding, easy to put together and very strong. I’ve stood on top of it multiple times and I’m 225 pounds.
My name is Gus from Tucson, Arizona. My wife and I are empty nesters and and we are venturing back into the camping world. We both grew up camping and raised three wonderful kids pulling a trailer on some memorable adventures. Now , it was our time to venture out again but this time we’re going overland . I was really excited to see my truck cap being delivered. I got to work right away. It was well packaged and was delivered with no damage . I assembled the entire cap by myself in under and hour. Every bolt hole lined up no problem . I threw my tent on top and it was complete.
Thank you Openroad, let’s go camping .
Love the topper. The only dislike was that the lock covers face the front allowing them to potentially catch wind and flap. I found they were easily turned around.
The overall assembly was fairly straightforward. Alignment of the 270 took a little bit to figure out where it needed to land in order to clear the back window. But once all installed worked perfectly, we had a big family camping trip and even had space to be under during a rainstorm with a 270 that’s still allowed us to eat and hang out as a family.
We still have to install third brake light. But Love this camper top!! Directions were clear and thorough. Would have liked a few more tips on how to thread the electrical wiring from third brake light through the truck bed to the rear light. But love how easy it was to assemble and install!
