Three Methods of Electric Winch Installation

External Installation
In this method, Electric winch is mounted directly on the outside of the bumper. Off-road vehicles like Jeep and Ford Bronco, which have bumpers that extend beyond the body, offer more freedom for installation space. The winch can simply be fixed onto a tray that is mounted on the bumper. This installation style exposes the winch, giving the vehicle a rugged, masculine appearance.

Hidden Installation
In the hidden installation method, the winch is mounted inside the bumper. Luxury SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee require a coordinated appearance, so off-road accessory manufacturers design specialized bumpers that allow the winch to be installed inside. Since these custom bumpers are also aesthetically pleasing, the hidden installation enhances the SUV's robust look. A similar approach is used for models like the Paladin, where the existing winch mounting platform in the original bumper is utilized to keep the vehicle's original style intact.

Quick-Release Installation
Portable winches come with a quick-release mechanism that allows for fast installation on the vehicle. The Beijing Hummingbird Off-Road Club once organized a challenging team off-road event—crossing the uninhabited area of Tibet's Ali region. In the northern part of Tibet's rugged terrain, roads can disappear at any moment, and fuel supply is unreliable. The team had to carry as much fuel and essential supplies as possible. Carrying a 50kg winch in each vehicle would reduce the driving range by at least 300 kilometers per vehicle. At altitudes above 6000 meters, this would be a deadly risk. To ensure effective self-rescue and mutual aid, the team only brought two winches. How could these two winches rescue seven vehicles? Each vehicle’s front and rear bumpers were fitted with square connectors, a standard used by off-road vehicles worldwide. By simply plugging the winch into these connectors, the rescue could be carried out—this is the application of the quick-release winch system.
